Newton killed Nature
Traditionally, Nature was considered a living thing … until Newton, in his Principia, proposed another view: Nature was inert, that means dead, and the main force in the cosmos was inertia. That is Newton’s first law.
After that, Humanism surged as the belief that Man was called to impose order and extract wealth from this inert Nature … and the rest is history, the history of “progress”, technological and economic.
