I believe in the Divine Rights of Kings

…as long as we accept the Divine Right of teachers, store managers, parents… anyone who has a public mission is invested with divine authority.
Any person who uses ‘God’ as the ultimate explanatory principle, believes, by definition, in the divine origin of authority. Of course, this does not make -as the Renaissance kings wanted to believe-  the King untouchable because of his divine authority.  On the contrary, authority begets accountability.
