Life’s pleasures are not consolations, but callings

Life’s pleasures on food, sex, relationships,  etc are not scarce oasis of joy in a harsh life. Pleasures are, as well as pains, a calling to induce us to seek our biological purpose:  to preserve, enhance and pass on life.
