Excellence is vicious …if out of proportion

Virtue in ancient Greek was “areté” a force to aim for excellence. Justice (“diké”) was the natural order of things. One cannot survive without the other. It makes no sense to be excellent by specializing and quitting your place in cosmos: to be a super-performer by abandoning your family or civil duties.

Do we need resources?

A security guard’s job is mostly information processing (detect threats, in this case). In rare cases he/she will produce energy (push somebody, for example) This is a general trend: humankind is becoming less and less dependent on energy and material resources, and more on information, which is unlimited. What will the future be like?
